Geraldine was Chief Executive of Derwentside Homes, a medium sized housing association of 7,000 homes based in North West County Durham, since its creation in 2006. She led the establishment and transformation of the new company into a financially strong, high performing, customer focused and award winning business.

In 2017, she successfully concluded a three-way merger for Derwentside Homes, with Isos Housing Group and Cestria Housing, achieving her objective to  co-create a new strong and resilient housing association – Karbon Homes – with the capacity to maximise growth opportunities and safeguard and improve services to customers in the future.

Geraldine has worked in the Housing Sector at senior executive level for over 25 years. She was previously Deputy Chief Executive at Tees Valley Housing Group (now Thirteen) with particular interests in regeneration, housing market renewal, community investment and supported housing. She spent the first 12 years of her housing career working for local authorities in Hartlepool, Derwentside and Middlesbrough in various operational and strategic posts.

She is passionate about the North East and has a keen interest in its economic development and future governance. She has been actively involved as a Board member of a number of partnerships across the region aimed at making and improving the economic, housing and social prospects of local areas such as Bridging Newcastle Gateshead Housing Market Renewal Initiative; West Middlesbrough New Deal for Communities; Parkfield, Stockton Housing Mangement Pathfinder and Grangetown and south Bank Single Regeneration Budget programmes.
