Charity Changing Lives opens new Vintage Thrift Store

This week, national charity Changing Lives officially opened their new Vintage Thrift Store on Chillingham Road, Heaton in Newcastle.

Staff, volunteers and customers joined in the celebrations as the shop was announced as officially open by Amy and Kieran from the well known Monster Ceilidh Band.

Hobson Golf Club’s Swinging Success

Hobson Golf Club in Burnopfield, County Durham, are celebrating their recent success of winning the North Durham Golf Union, Division 3 Championship. The golf club beat six other local teams on their way to winning the coveted first place.

Hobson golf club entered the championship with 12 team players, alternating the players for each of the matches to form a team of seven. The club was awarded 112 points from the 12 games played.

CEO Sleepout UK

LORD MAYOR JOINS TOP EXECS TO TACKLE NEWCASTLE HOMELESSNESS The new Lord Mayor of Newcastle, George Pattison, will join top Tyneside executives to help raise funds for a range of homelessness and related charities when they sleep out for the night beside Newcastle United’s pitch at St James’ Park for a second year running. The CEO Sleepout will once again see businessmen and women swap the luxury of their comfortable beds for sleeping bags and layers of clothing as they try to stay warm throughout a cold night on Thursday October 9th through to Friday 10th October which is World Homeless Day.

In a joint initiative between CEO Sleepout UK and Newcastle United Foundation, up to 60 local business leaders will sleep rough pitchside at St James’ Park. CEO Sleepout chairman Andy Preston said:

Rotary Club raises over £1,000 for homeless charity

Homeless people in Chester-le-Street are set to benefit from the local Rotary Club’s fundraising efforts for their Charity of the Year, Changing Lives. The local branch of the charity were recently presented with a cheque for a generous amount of £1,700 from the Rotary Club of Chester-le-Street in Durham. The Rotary club organised sponsored walks and raffles to fundraise the generous sum for Changing Lives.

The money raised by the Club will go towards Changing Lives’ Accommodation Service in Chester-le-Street, which was chosen as the Rotary Club’s Charity of the Year (2013 – 2014).

Breakfast for Everyone Courtesy of FareShare

FareShare North East and York, part of the charity Changing Lives, recently donated a large collection of food to support a breakfast club at The Dales School in Blyth. The food donation will enable the school children to start the morning with a nutritional breakfast, preparing them for the busy day ahead.

The Dales School was chosen by Cramlington based pharmaceutical manufacturer, MSD, as it is one of their partner schools where an after school science club is organised and delivered by MSD staff and the school is supported throughout the year on various projects by MSD.
