Homelife property portfolio goes from strength to strength

Our HomeLife project is excited to announce that they have secured future funding to purchase and refurbish more empty properties throughout Tyne and Wear, Durham and Northumberland. Homelife is part of the Government's 'Empty Homes Programme' to tackle long-term empty properties and bring them back into use.

Homelife helps us to extend the work we already do by enabling us to offer a permanent home to some of our service users and help them to build a future and complete their journey to independence.

Housing First – Ground-breaking research into homelessness approach

Changing Lives, in partnership with a range of specialist agencies and organisations, has led ground-breaking research on long-term homelessness in the UK. The research shows that the Housing First approach in tackling long-term homelessness in England, can potentially reduce the number of people who are homeless, whilst providing significant cost savings.

Carried out by one of Europe’s leading authorities on the sector, the Centre for Housing Policy, University of York, the study reviewed nine providers of the Housing First services from across the country.

Recovery North Yorkshire

Changing Lives have recently opened a new service in North Yorkshire called ‘North Yorkshire Horizons’, working in partnership with Developing Initiatives Supporting Communities (DISC), The Cambridge Centre, Spectrum and Lifeline.

The service offers five ‘hubs’ which are based throughout North Yorkshire in Scarborough, Harrogate, Northallerton, Selby, and Skipton.
