On October 9th, 45 of the region’s top business executives took part in the Newcastle CEO Sleepout UK to raise awareness of homelessness.
The executives gave up one of their comfortable nights sleep, spending it on the pitch at St James’ Park to raise over £30,000 for local homeless charities including Changing Lives, Newcastle United Foundation, De Paul Trust and Newcastle Homeless Football Club. The 45 executives included two staff members from Changing Lives, Carolyn Reynolds, Executive Director of Communications and Fundraising and Assistant Director, Val Nevin.
Huge well done and thank you to everyone involved. With your support we can continue to help vulnerable people and their families change their lives for the better.
The CEO Sleepout is a great opportunity for us to raise awareness of homelessness issues and a chance to stop and think about how these issues affect real peoples’ lives in our region everyday. Homelessness affects many people, families and individuals, and it is important for us not to take home comforts such as food, warmth and a safe bed to sleep in at night for granted. Changing Lives works with some of the most vulnerable and excluded people in our society, supporting them to make positive changes in their lives. As a charity, fundraising plays an important role in helping us to continue our vital work and we’re grateful to the CEO Sleepout and the participants for their continued support.”
