Changing Lives has been supported by an enthusiastic team of volunteers from Network Rail to have the garden area of our York supported accommodation project ready for the summer.
Seven volunteers from Network Rail spent the day at Changing Lives’ supported accommodation project on Union Terrace in York on Friday 29th June 2018.
Five of the Network Rail team gave the outside space at Union Terrace some much needed attention along with the help of staff and residents. They mowed the grass, weeded the garden, trimmed the hedges and re-gravelled the pathways which has made such a massive difference to the outside area and has been hugely appreciated by the residents and staff.
The other two volunteers from Network Rail supported our MEAM (Making Every Adult Matter) team in painting the flat of someone we support to help them feel more at home.
One of the volunteers from Network Rail said:
“What a fantastic day we had. It was such a brilliant team effort with both organisations and the residents working so hard together. It was quite inspirational.”
Changing Lives’ Union Terrace accommodation supports men who have experienced homelessness in York and the surrounding area. As well as providing a roof over their heads, we help residents to build the skills needed for independent living and a brighter future, such as money management and health and nutrition promotion.
