We are delighted to announce that Changing Lives’ dedicated accommodation project for mums and mums-to-be who are in recovery from substance misuse has been awarded £4,000 from Tesco’s Bags of Help community grant scheme.
The award was granted thanks to the votes of shoppers at Tesco stores in Gateshead.
All the money raised will go towards providing a safe and therapeutic space for the women we support and their children as they work towards a brighter future.
This project supports families in their recovery and on their own personal journey to gain skills they need to make positive choices and live happily and independently. We take a whole-family approach to the work that we do and ensure that we work closely with all other professionals involved with a family.
Across the North East and Yorkshire, we are on hand to help people take their first steps towards abstinence and support their ongoing recovery. Our dedicated drug and alcohol services offer tailored support to help people challenge their dependency. We understand that recovery from substance misuse is a journey. But we know that it is possible with the right support.
Bags of Help is run in partnership with environmental charity Groundwork, and sees grants raised from the sale of carrier bags awarded to thousands of local community projects every year. Since launching in 2015, it’s provided more than £71 million to over 23,000 local community projects.
