Donating new or unwanted gifts or items is a simple and rewarding way to make a big difference to your local community.

You are able to drop donations off at our charity shop in Gateshead (41 Jackson St, Gateshead NE8 1EE) or at our Central Office on the Team Valley (Unit D13 Marquis Court, Tenth Avenue West, Team Valley, NE11 0RU).

Our standard list of items is below. We need items for men and women, as well as a limited number of items for children and young people.

Warm clothes

We reach out to people experiencing homelessness and sleeping rough on the streets. Warm gloves, socks and hats are especially helpful in the winter months. We’ll distribute them via our outreach projects and drop-in centres.

We support 14,500 people each year, including a large number of residents in our accommodation projects. We always need deodorant, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, sanitary products, moisturiser etc.

Gift sets

Gift sets are great! They provide people with the chance to give their loved ones Christmas presents and birthday gifts that they wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford. They also make a lovely treat for residents who may not receive any other gifts for Christmas or birthdays themselves due to estrangement or isolation from family and friends.

Pyjamas can be a luxury when you’re living in poverty and nights can be cold if you can’t heat your home.

Toys and gifts for children

Can you donate new toys, books and craft items for the children of families we support? We need items from baby right through to late teenage. (Please note that our greatest need is for items for adults, however.)

People who use our services often have a lot of appointments to keep track of and many don’t have a mobile phone to record them in. Diaries are always really useful and popular to help people who use our services to remember when and where they can get help.

Items we’re unable to accept

  • Please do not donate alcohol, razors or blades.
  • Please don’t wrap your gifts as we’ll need to unwrap them to check suitability.
