Kitchen Volunteer

Location: Chester-le-Street

Role Description

The kitchen volunteer will assist the chef to prepare and serve meals for the individuals that we support on the project.

We also need a volunteer who will assist the chef to prepare meals for the individuals in needs based in the local community

Key responsibilities

  • Help serve the food to service users
  • Supervise service users you may be cooking with
  • Ensure the kitchen is kept tidy
  • Adhere to prescribed food hygiene standards at all times

Skills, experience and abilities

  • Experience of cooking, desirable
  • Ability to assist in cooking for large groups of people
  • Enthusiastic and creative
  • Knowledge of food hygiene practices
  • Friendly and approachable manner, and a good sense of humour
  • Able to work as part of a team with good communication and listening skills
  • Open-minded, with a non-judgemental approach to addiction and recovery
  • A commitment to the aims and principles of Changing Lives, including a commitment to confidentiality

Expected hours/times

Monday to Sunday for 2-3 hours between 10.30-17.30, and/or every Tuesday for 3 hours
