Walking Group Leader Volunteer

Location: Wearside

Role Description

To lead walks around local areas. (Sunderland, Houghton, Washington, seaside etc.)

Key Responsibilities

  • Risk assessing of local walks
  • Ensuring walks are friendly, safe and well run
  • Providing support and encouragement to walkers
  • Promoting social aspects of walking with others
  • Providing walking instructions and a debrief

Skills, Experience and Abilities

  • Enjoy walking and being outdoors
  • Good organisation skills
  • Good communication and listening skills
  • Reliable, punctual and committed
  • Have a friendly personality
  • Basic First Aid – desirable
  • Currently hold a walk leader qualification or willingness to train as walk leader – desirable
  • Confident in reporting safeguarding concerns
  • A commitment to the aims and principles of Changing Lives including a commitment to confidentiality

Expected Hours and Times

A minimum of 30 minutes per walk, regular days and times of walks to be agreed.

Other Relevant Information

Male or female volunteers. Must be over 18 years of age.
