Middlesbrough Domestic Abuse Refuge

Domestic Abuse

Introduction to Service

Middlesbrough Domestic Abuse Refuge is supported accommodation for women and women with children who are fleeing domestic abuse. The project provides support for up to 15 women at the refuge, followed by six weeks move on support.

We work to prevent further domestic abuse by providing support and facilitating safe space for women/women with families in refuge accommodation, from which they can regain control of their lives and progress toward safe independent living beyond the refuge.

We use a holistic and strength-based approach to support all individuals, supporting women who may have experienced multiple disadvantages and have unmet needs and also who require specialist trauma informed and non-judgmental support.

The refuge is run in accordance with the women’s co-produced Protect and Support Plan and follows Changing Lives Theory of Change; Being, Becoming, Belonging.

Unfortunately, we are unable to support women with alcohol dependency needs, or women with a history of violence or arson.

Criteria:  Women who are aged 16+ and their children

Middlesbrough Domestic Abuse Dispersed Service is supported dispersed accommodation for people and their children who are fleeing domestic abuse. We

We support those with protected characteristics and those who can’t access traditional refuge including people who are male and those who may have experienced multiple disadvantage.

We provide intensive outreach support for up to 3 people at a time, followed by 6 weeks resettlement support.
