Meet our Co-Production Volunteer Sinead - Volunteers' Week 2026

June 2026

At Changing Lives we've recently established three co-production volunteers, who bring invaluable lived experience to help us assess and deliver the best possible services with and for the people we support. During Volunteers Week 2026, they told us their stories.

My passion for this work comes from both my lived experience and the journey I’ve been on myself. I’ve come a long way, and a big part of that has been the support, encouragement, and opportunities I’ve been given through services like this. Being listened to, supported without judgement, and given the space to grow has made a real difference in my life, and it’s something I feel strongly about giving back to others.

I understand how important it is to feel heard, supported, and given the chance to move forward, and that’s something I care deeply about offering to others.

I’m particularly passionate about supporting people who may feel overlooked or judged, especially women within the criminal justice system.

Creativity also plays a huge part in my life. I enjoy decoupage, sewing, and watercolour painting, and I’ve found these to be really positive outlets for my wellbeing, confidence, and difficult days.

Through my involvement with the women’s centre and the Time Well Spent group that I run every week, I’ve been able to bring these creative activities into a supportive space for women to help them to relax, connect, and build confidence and self love in a different way.

I wanted to become a co-production volunteer because I believe that people with lived experience should be at the heart of shaping services as the people who use services understand them best.

In this role, I’d like to continue growing in confidence, develop my skills further and soak up all the experience I can in this sector as well as making a meaningful contribution. I’d also love to explore more ways of using creativity as part of support, engagement, and improving mental health and wellbeing.

I'm super excited to really getting started in this role!
