Our Changing Little Lives Crèche was able to fight holiday hunger thanks to support from their local Co-op store on Beckett Road, Doncaster.

Parents accessing any Changing Lives services or courses at our Doncaster Community Hub are entitled to a free childcare place at our on-site crèche.

This year Senior Childcare worker Sharon Wilson set up a Hot Lunch Club over the summer holidays. For one day a week for six weeks the club provided hot lunches to families eligible for free school meals. This meant that families struggling financially had somewhere they could go for a healthy, home-cooked meal outside of term time.

The Hot Lunch Club was a huge success with over 400 meals prepared to be eaten in the centre or taken home. And none of it would have been possible without the support of the local Co-Op store on Beckett Road. Sharon explained:

“The manager Ellen Snook or a member of the team met with us every week and donated food in accordance to our menus. Their help was fundamental in being able to deliver our Hot Lunch Club.”
