Bibby House which provides specialist support for veterans in Gateshead has received funding of £20,000 to continue its life-changing support for veterans for another year.
The Soldiers’ Charity is the national charity of the British Army. They provide support for soldiers, veterans, and their immediate families, for life.
The funding will allow Bibby House, which supports ex-service personnel with multiple and complex needs to continue to offer its tailored support. Bibby House provides specialist veterans’ accommodation, and also ongoing support from our outreach and family workers who help those who have served in the Armed Forces readjust to civilian life and overcome any barriers they may face.
Many of our Veterans Support Workers are veterans themselves, meaning that not only do the veterans we work with receive tailored support, but they also discuss their issues with a peer who can relate directly to their experiences and issues. We empower veterans to be the main force of change in their lives and help them to take ownership of that change with the skills and knowledge they need to move towards independence. We also understand the importance of employment and the meaningful use of time among our veterans and work with them to help them access employment (via our Employment Team), education and training before moving on into a new home.
