CEOs from across the North East, including Changing Lives’ Stephen Bell OBE, are signing up to spend a night sleeping on the pitch-line of Newcastle United’s St. James’ Park to raise thousands to support vulnerable people suffering homelessness in the region.
2017’s CEO Sleepout will be the fourth sleep-out that St. James’ Park has hosted. Last year, £80,000 was raised, making Newcastle’s CEO Sleepout the largest outside of London.
Funds raised during the sponsored sleepout in March will be split between Changing Lives, the Newcastle United Foundation, and CEO Sleepout UK, all with the aim of supporting people who are currently homeless and preventing other people from facing a life on the streets.
The funds raised during last year’s CEO Sleepout event are currently helping Changing Lives provide guidance to clients centring around addressing financial issues that, if not navigated properly, would result in them being evicted from their properties and made homeless.
The funds from last year’s sleepout is also supporting the Newcastle United Foundation and CEO Sleepout UK run initiatives.
Stephen Bell said:
“This will be the fourth CEO Sleepout in Newcastle and I encourage more business leaders to take part, help us raise awareness and funds for the services needed here in the North East.
“In this period of austerity, which has hit some of the most disadvantaged in our community hardest, please join us in this challenge, let’s beat London’s record for the highest amount raised at a Sleepout”
