We were nominated and shortlisted for our work supporting people who are being discharged from hospital in the city of York to no fixed abode, facing homelessness.

Despite not coming home with the top award, we were thrilled to attend the awards evening in October, acknowledging our life-changing work to support people who are homeless in York.

Changing Lives’ Arc Light resettlement centre works with NHS York to provide emergency temporary accommodation to people facing homelessness when discharged from hospital care.

We support people to avoid having to sleep rough on the streets of York, and to prevent re-admissions to hospital. Through our intensive support, we help vulnerable people access sustainable accommodation and promote continued improvement in health and wellbeing.

Over 300 people attended the seventeenth annual Celebration of Achievement Awards on Tuesday 12th October at The Bridlington Spa, celebrating individuals and teams who go the extra mile to make a real difference to others.

The ‘Partnership Matters’ category celebrates individuals or teams who has demonstrated the benefits of partnership working, between York NHS Trust and other stakeholders, in providing health and social care.

Across York, Changing Lives supports people facing homelessness and battling with drug and alcohol dependencies to build a brighter future for themselves and their family. Alongside the Arc Light resettlement centre, which has been part of the Changing Lives group since 2016, Changing Lives also manages a dedicated accommodation project for women and young people, as well as delivering the city-wide drug and alcohol service with Spectrum Community Health CIC.
