LashArt, a small internet-based retail company situated in Gateshead, has been supporting Changing Lives to help disadvantaged people back on their feet and into employment.
The company have recently hired a woman who is supported by Changing Lives, after she blew them away in an interview. Sarah (not her real name) has been getting help from Changing Lives to boost her confidence and get her into a fulfilling job.
Steve Foster, Operation Manager at LashArt, said:
“Some three months ago I was looking to recruit a new member of staff for our Picking/Packing team.
My partner works for Changing Lives. I had listened to her many stories about people who for various reasons were seeking employment after a period of hard times, and I wanted to help.
She put me in touch with Changing Lives’ Employment Services Manager, Val, who came to visit us at LashArt and then promised to send over some CVs of potential candidates.
One particular C.V leapt out at me – from Sarah – who had great experience. She came in for an interview and blew us away with her positivity, work ethic and obvious enthusiasm.
We’re thrilled to have Sarah as part of our team. She’s represented our company at national events and has since been took on as the P.A. of our Company Director.
This is fantastic going but does of course mean I have had to recruit yet another picker/packer!”
Sarah has now been working for LashArt for three months. She said:
“I joined LashArt in August 2017 through the help of Changing Lives. They are a fantastic company to work for and the staff here have offered me nothing but support and guidance.
I am so grateful to Changing Lives and LashArt for giving me such a great opportunity to work for an industry that I am so interested in.
I have already attended a beauty event in London and will be attending more events in the future. This opportunity really has changed my life”
LashArt sells false eyelashes and lash accessories to the beauty trade internationally and in the UK.
