Changing Lives is excited to announce that it will be working alongside partners, Mayday Trust and Westminster Council, to bring about real change for people going through tough times in Westminster.
Changing Lives is a nationwide charity helping people facing the most challenging of circumstances make positive change – for good. As well as being a large provider of supported accommodation, Changing Lives has been delivering Mayday’s Personal Transitions Service (PTS) as an Innovation partner in the North for three years. The charity will now be offering this person-led, transitional and strength-based response in Westminster.
Changing Lives will also take over the delivery of Mayday’s housing and support contract with Westminster City Council from 1st October 2020, modelling transitional person-led approaches of the future, where people are offered the right support at the right time. This comprises 36 units of supported accommodation, provided by Registered Providers Peabody and Notting Hill Genesis.
Stephen Bell OBE, Chief Executive at Changing Lives, said: “At Changing Lives, we know that current systems are not working for people experiencing challenging times and this needs to change. So by working with Mayday Trust and playing to our strengths, we will strive to evolve a new system for people experiencing homelessness which has each person in the lead. We very much look forward to working more closely with Mayday Trust and colleagues in Westminster to create a new system for people experiencing homelessness.”
Pat McArdle, Chief Executive at Mayday, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have one of our first PTS Innovation Partners working alongside us to change the system in London. We hope that this will further grow how we listen to and value people’s voices within the system and going through tough times.”
